Alternet’s P.U.-litzer Prizes
A short list of some of the year’s worst efforts masquerading as journalism. My personal favorites: Chris Matthews, who gushed, this time not about Bush, but Fred Thompson’s “sex appeal” and “star quality.” (what?!), CBS News, who reported from one of their sources that Americans don’t actually want single payer health care because “It’s a cultural difference” and finally, the great many media outlets who followed each other like a pack of hungry wolves all year to the “HHH” John Edwards story premise, all the while wondering why this storyline even existed in the first place.
